  This is a place that I really hoped would be extraordinary and turned out to be quite average. In my defense, the menu prices lead one to believe that a fine dining experience is about to unfold. But, I ordered a classic gin martini. It was adorned with a chunk of ice floating in it that even after being removed, left it tasting watery and disappointing. My dining partner kept it simple (wisely) and ordered a burger. An average chain bistro (Applebee's, etc) makes a better presentation. The bun was not a fresh brioche or some other notable creation. It was an average grocery store, out of a plastic bag type. The two slices of tomato alone were justification for returning the entire plate. The tomatoes were of such a nebulous color and constitution, that a prudent kitchen would have advised patrons that tomatoes were not yet available. This was inexcusable. I ordered an Indian lamb dish. It was fine, but of moderate size and presentation. So, a cup of soup, one salad, a burger, the lamb, a martini, and one glass of wine exceeded $80. . .in Pittstown. Had the experience been one of a talented chef with details that enhanced the meal, the cost would seem inconsequential. But none of that was so.
